Strange Spiral Guides "Death" Sun

Struktur spiral di sekitar bintang R Sculptoris

Hello, buddy JET-Z! This time I want to post an interesting info that you should know. what is it? About the Strange Spiral in a dying giant star

One day, about 5 billion years, the Sun - in which the Earth and all the planets in the solar system will die. Discovery of a strange spiral structure surrounding a dying red giant star, possibly a clue, how the behavior of the Sun at the end of his life.

Spiral is found international team of astronomers using telescopes Atacama Large Millimeter / Submillimeter Array (ALMA) in northern Chile. The structure that has not previously been found to be in
confinement of gas and dust around the red star located about 1,000 million light years from Earth.

Spiral is expected to be formed by gas from a dying red giant star - called R Sculptoris.

This structure provides information on wind speed blowing R Sculptoris, revealed that the star had lost its mass three times previously thought.

"We have seen a shell-like structure around the star of this type before, but this is the first time we see the material spiral outward from the star," says lead author Matthias Maercker, scientists from the University of Bonn, Germany. "We can 'walk' along the spiral and use it as a clock to see what was going on."

To note, the star like the Sun will expand into a red giant in the last stage of its evolution. When the sun reaches this phase in about 5 billion years, it will spread as far as the outer layer of Earth's orbit.

Every 10,000 to 50,000 years, appears to be a gas giant helium burning for several hundred years, in a process known as thermal pulse. This process also causes mixing between the layers of the star.

"Thermal element is a critical part of the final evolution of stars," said Maercker told SPACE.com. "They are responsible for the formation of new elements, which will eventually become the new stars and planetary systems."
Most Expensive
The unusual spiral shape may be created by a hidden companion star orbiting a red giant. The research findings have been published in the journal Nature.

For information, ALMA telescope is the most expensive in the world that produces ground-based images ten times sharper than Hubble.

With its location at an altitude of 16,000 feet in the Andes, ALMA is the engine in the world. ALMA has 66 antennas that explore the universe through radio waves emitted by galaxies, stars and other objects that can not be captured by optical and infrared telescope - which can only receive light.
